The University of Maryland’s nursing school recently conducted a study in pursuit of finding the connection between the nursing profession and obesity. It’s about time, cause I know I’m not the only person who finds concern in the fact that people who preach a healthy lifestyle often struggle with it themselves. Here are their findings: Out of over 2,000 nurses surveyed, 55% of them were obese. The strongest linking factors were long work hours and working the night shift. As many of us know, these factors result in increased stress, fatigue, sleep deprivation and poor eating habits. Now the question is posed: How does one on the brink of their nursing career avoid the inevitable?
